Sorry, but I just tested 3.2.0-26-generic #41~lp1013183v4 from bug
#1013183 and it works
But 3.2.0.26.28 does not.

I'll go ahead and report this here and on my bug report. From what I can
tell, the fix has been committed for the next kernel update. While bug
#1013183 is older than mine, the actual fix has been in the

Broken sound for IDT* and STAC* codecs in kernel 3.2.0-25, that sounds
like bug 1013183. If you went through the duplicates to this bug you
probably know better than I if these are all duplicates of bug 1013183
as well.

I also experience the bug. After upgrading kernel to 3.2.0-25 no sound
at all. When I choose the previous kernel version 3.2.0-24 from Grub
menu, then everything is fine.

My speakers stopped working on my dv6 after upgrading to kernel 3.2.0-25
generic 64 bit. I rolled back to 3.2.0-23 and it was fine again.

I upgraded to 3.2.0-24 and everything seems to be working fine still. I
should probably have noted that I've added
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5
to my alsa-base.conf to account for an issue where sound comes out of
the speakers and the headphones when the headphones are plugged in. With
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
