Upgraded today and sound is now working. No clue as to what resolved

Hi Luke,
I did as you said, and the sound did not come back. I will attach the
logfile, however I'm starting to suspect an issue at the alsa layer
based on the weird errors I get from trying to reset the card using
alsactl...but I could be wrong.

Ok, something is certainly going on below pulse somewhere. Pulse's udev
module detects the card, but it seems something has grabbed it already,
so PulseAudio cannot use it. Added to that, there is the message in
dmesg that Dave pointed out earlier.
