I am desperate to find a workaround to this bug. Does anyone have any
idea where to start looking?
Is this bug the same as Bug #614238 ?

Hi,
Yesterday I tried using my laptop again to give a lecture using an
external monitor. With the latest Precise updates, the behavior is now
even worse. In addition to the waviness, every 30 seconds or so the
laptop would disconnect from the external monitor and go through a
series of screen
I tried the latest 3.6 kernel:
linux-headers-3.6.0-030600rc1_3.6.0-030600rc1.201208022056_all.deb
linux-headers-3.6.0-030600rc1-generic_3.6.0-030600rc1.201208022056_amd64.deb

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.5kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the
linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.
Once you've tested the
apport information
