I'm going to mark this Fix Released against Hardy. If and when you
get a chance to test Intrepid, please let us know if you witness any
regressions regarding
OK.
I will test the first beta, not the Alpha 5.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
I also have a Toshiba A75 and , the only option that I needed to add
into the kernel boot line was noapic, and it worked fine after that
(for future reference).
I was seeing a MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC error
after the GRUB menu, which tipped me off to the solution (that
I had the same problem on my acer laptop; after a lot of testing I
realized the issue only arose when the pc was being charged / linked to
the wall socket. the noapic nolapic pci=noacpi acpi=off boot sequence
seems to be working, even though I get a warning at start - guess one of
those options is
With the newest kernels I have no problems

I have the same issue on a ADM64 laptop Presarion V5000, I am going to
try above suggested setting. I hope this fix it. I waited patiently on
this new version of Ubuntu and I wipe off my dual partion to have only
one OS Ubuntu however I have been having these issues and it
frustrates me as I
:( ok I tried the setting in the kernel line and Yupii!! It works,
However, my network connections were all broken. I could not connect
through eth0 neither wireless :( So I will research more to see what I
need to do to keep them up.

Ubuntu 7.04 Freezes all the time in a Toshiba
Hello, I got my network cards working again. Btw I had to use noapic
nolapic pci=noacpi acpi=off and that seems like it did it. I am not
100% sure. I am new in Linux. I guess someone else can explain. Does
anyone know what is going to be affected by turning the above settings
off?
Thanks

It is a kernel bug though that i've noticed in every distribution yet
though. So I think it's more leaned on the hard out kernel developers
more then anyone. Until then though, adding this does work. Your laptop
won't blow up from not having ACPI enabled in the OS.

Not really wonderful.
ACPI provides some tools to monitor and manage parts of the laptop, from
the power button, to the fans etc...
Work on that is needed.

ah ok I understand. I had already see that my computer wasn't as
efficient as in windows XP with which I can run the 'Toshiba Power
Saver' program. Program that is really good.
But at least I can run Ubuntu on my computer and it is not always
freezing for no reason. It was doing that since I

I'm not sure exactly what it is, I just know i've tested other
distributions such as fedora cores, and every single one of them I had
to disable acpi (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface). All I know
is I use a Toshiba Satellite A75 (which i'm on right now) and I looked
into it for fedora
Thanks! I will reinstall Ubuntu and I will test it.

If you're just going to reinstall, when you put the cd in, and boot off
the cd, and get the main menu asking you what you want to do. Hit your
F6 key, and you'll get a big long line underneath everything. Don't
delete anything. Just add pci=noacpi and hit enter. Then it should boot
up with that,
WOW!
I Can't believe it! It seems to work perfectly! Thank you very much. It
is incredible that for only 2 words, I had all these problem for all
this time.
Thank you.

JSGosselin..
The good news, is it seems acpi is the problem...
I just went back to my place, and the first thing I did was to modify
the grub and boot my laptop...
Well, 25 minutes have passed and it is working fine.. I also know, acpi
has created problems before

It's actually a really easy fix... All you have to do is disable acpi.
You can do this either when you install the system and boot of the cd,
and in the boot menu, you hit F6, and add pci=noacpi during the first
install, and it will keep that kernel flag on boot, or you can go into
Epidemic,
can you explain a little more what is this problem. I have a toshiba
satellite P30 and on Edgy, I had a few freezing, particularly with
soundjuicer and amarok. After upgrading on Feisty, the problem get worse
and it was just always freezing for nothing as SkimO explained. At the

I'm back with time to debug a little more.
I really think this is related to gnome not to the kernel, Evidence shows that.
I booted the machine 10 times, with 10 times going out of service, it starts to
slow down then it does not respond to anything, not even Ctrl Alt F[123456]
I then started it
this isnt me...i dont have that model of toshiba or that problem...
