Finally I've just stopped using LXDE in 13.04 and went for XFCE instead.
In 13.10 I've returned to LXDE as the problem seems to be fixed.

This bug is fixed in version 0.5.0. Either upgrade your system to 13.10
to use it or ask maintainers for backport but I'm not sure if that will
be done for non-latest version of Ubuntu.

I've figured a workaround for this problem.
I've just replaced the crashing binary file [/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
/libmenu-cache2/libexec/menu-cached] from 13.04 with the similar working
binary file from 12.10 - [/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmenu-
cache1/libexec/menu-cached].

Just checked yesterday with the nightly build for Lubuntu 13.04 x64 and
the bug is still present. What makes it worse is that it also appears
when someone tries to right-click and choose Open with ... from the
context menu for an unknown file type, while in PCManFM.
Strangely enough, if such an
