** Description changed:
The symptoms are:
-sleep : shows some messages in console mode about going to sleep, then the
display shows all sorts of colors and lines, and after a second or two it
enters the sleep state. When pressing any key, i again get some sleep messages
in console mode
I have some other piece of information that might solve the mystery:
A few days ago, i was trying to connect a display to my laptop, and have a vlc
video on it. I used the nvidia-settings to detect and enable the new display
with the proper resolution. VLC crashed when resized or maximized, but

It seems that disabling the nvidia restricred driver will let me suspend
succesfully, so the problem is in linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24,
mainly nvidia-glx-new (That's what the procedure in debugging kernel
suspend was supposed to tell me, right?). The workaround in #123104
doesn't seem to work.
After running DebuggingKernelSuspend i get the attached dmesg output.
Any idea what ptytf is?

Acer Aspire 1510LMi won't go to sleep or hibernate
Hi Daniel,
Sorry for the delayed response. I'm wondering if this may actually be
an issue with Xorg rather than the kernel since you said you were able
to successfully suspend and resume from the console. But, just to start
testing from the current development tree, the Hardy Heron Alpha series
Also note that we'll keep this report open against the actively
developed kernel but will be closing it against 2.6.20 and 2.6.22.
Thanks.

somehow, on Feisty Fawn i did manage to solve this problem, using a
strange combination of settings which i don't remember any more :(
Now on a fresh install of Gutsy Gibbon, suspend doesn't work anymore,
showing the colored screen once again on every resume.
I'm pretty sure it's related to the

switched to another (non-graphical) console by pressing ALT+CTRL+F2. The
System entered the suspend state, and pressing the power button
recovered in in the console, apparently with all things working
properly. However,
