Hi, i'm new to Linux and I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my system.
I've had the same problem with the 'Kernel Alive' bug. I followed the

This solution works perfect. It's like described: the 'kernel still
alive' - message still appears, but ubuntu works perfect now.

Even though this is only a duplicate bug report I want to send my

I am getting this exact same error. It is not just the live cd however
it is the alternate cd as well.
Im using a AMD X2 5200 w/ 4gigs of Corsair XMS , Asus Crosshair, Nvidia
BFG 8800GTX.

I try to install Feisty with the 64bit-AMD-Disk
I use a laptop with
AMD Turion 64 X2
1 GB Ram
nVidia-Chipset
graphiccard NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100
without any boot options the system halts at the line:
[31.401458] ACPI: Looking for DSDT in initramfs... file
It'd be really helpful if you can attach the following files:
uname -a uname-a.log
cat /proc/version_signature version.log
dmesg dmesg.log
sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log
But I understand that you're trying to boot a live cd, and your log
files are not being saved in your hard drive.
