Yes it is still an issue and it happens with the Vanilla 2.6.24-rc2
kernel too. The problem seems to be that snd_emu10k1 can't be unloaded.
Suspend doesn't work on demand but if I shut down system it goes to
standby instead because the part that prevents it is shutdown or

If Audigy2 is the default sound card in Gnome and Alsa the laptop doesn't go to
suspend even with force. mixer_applet2 uses 100% and the sleep.sh script waits.
If I kill the applet suspend works fine afterwards. This doesn't happen if
Intel sound card is the default one (which is the default
Ok, I have tested it with my system and the Live CD. There are several
problems but at first suspend works with the force option and resume but
after resume the Audigy sound card doesn't work anymore because of the
module problem.

It wasn't the force option, it was always the mixer_applet2. That's the
reason why suspend only works on shutdown since the app was closed so
the sleep.sh script could continue.

Hi unggnu,
You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you with
the 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon release (kernel 2.6.22-14)? If the issue still
persists, can you attach the dmesg output from this newer release after
This still happens in Gutsy.
