I ran apport-collect again with the 14.04 release image. No luck, the

I tried running apport-collect a few more times using a 14.04 daily

To manage
Well, using these steps to reproduce with a live CD, I went all the way
back to 12.0.4.3 LTS. Same thing happened. Since I know for a fact that
version worked properly for at least a year, I sadly conclude some
hardware part must have died.
Unless you want me to do more debugging, you can close
Just out of curiosity, I also tried 11.10, same problem persists. I'm
pretty sure it's a hardware problem now.

Just tested and the problem still occurs. I ran the command you gave,
but I don't know if files are uploaded. The python script showed errors
in the terminal.
Incidentally, I found steps which have reproduced the problem 10 out of
10 times:
- open dash
- search for 'term'
- start the 'Terminal'
The problem is still there, just happened after playing 1 minute with
the interface after login. All updates are installed.
Can I test the ISO when running as live CD or must I reinstall the
laptop and can I replace REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER with anything?
