Tribe 5 gives colored blocks again, if installation is started without vga boot
option.
After installation is completed, xresprobe gives same results as above.
After installation, xresprobe has version 0.4.24ubuntu4.

I had the "colored blocks" blocks problem too on my laptop (Dell Latitude D830
with GM965),
the xresprobe intel output is the same as stated above.
X worked correctly after the installation.

Today I did a new install of Gutsy tribe 4.
This time I used boot option vga=771 (added using F6). Now the display was not
messed up!
The problem may be related to the fact xresprobe does not find any resolutions
for my system:

I made a new installation, with Gutsy Tribe 4 (amd64 alternate CD).
The result was very similar to the above, only with tribe 4 the screen went
black, instead of the colored blocks I got with tribe 3. I was able to complete
the installation blindly, by simply pressing enter a few times. After reb
