Bryce, can you have a look at this. It looks like a driver problem
causing a freeze.
Do we know if there have been updates to the via driver that would make
this likely to 'just work' in Feisty or Gutsy. A fix in current/future
version would be enough in this case.

Yes, there have been improvements to the via driver, that would make
testing against a Feisty or Gutsy live cd worth the time.
There have been a NUMBER of screensaver related issues reported and
fixed between 6.06 and current, so it would not surprise me at all if
upgrading would result in a
