I uninstalled kdesudo and then ran dolphin in a terminal as root
sudo dolphin
On exiting dolphin I did not get a bookmarks error.
I then reinstalled kdesudo and reran dolphin .. the error is back again.

and I temp fixed it by
cd /home
sudo chown -R username:username username (where username is you username,
ofcourse :)

What's the status on this issue? I'm still finding it with 7.10 final.
By the way, the quick fix is to run the command sudo chmod
[user]:[user] ~/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/* (replace [user] with your
username)

I also confirm this bug still present in Kubuntu 7.10 Beta (up-to-date
as of 10-01-07).
Using Open as root changes ownership of the bookmarks.xml file to
root.
Two temporary workarounds:
1) Open a terminal and manually change ownership of the file back to the user
2) Delete the

I can conform this bug is still present in Kubuntu 7.10 Beta.
After I have once used open as root, then every time I use and close Dolphin,
then I get this error message.
This is a serious problem for a non-expert user since
- The error message is persistent and frequent.
- It's warning is
these two bugs are similar, but the other one isn;t being run as root.

I forgot to mention I was using 'sudo dolphin' if that somehow differs
from 'kdesu dolphin' or 'open as root' (which is most likely same as
'kdesu dolphin').

I can confirm this on my kubuntu gutsy tribe 5 install. Changing
ownership of bookmarks.xml manualy solves the problem but only until you
open dolphin with kdesu again.
