I'm getting this bug on Ubuntu Hardy Alpha5.
The workaround helps, but I need to do it everytime I reboot, and it
gets annoying.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I've had exactly the same problem, however just found the solution:
In the Gusty Tribe 5 live installer, open a terminal:
$ sudo su
# rmmod forcedeth
# modprobe forcedeth msi=0 msix=0
# /etc/init.d/networking restart
Your network interfaces should come back up and actually work now :-)

- I've tried the Ubuntu Gusty Gibbon Tribe 5 live disc (x86) and the netboot
variant (x86 too). Both cant access my network! Everything works fine using
Feisty x86 (as-is) or Windows XP Home (with installed drivers).
