The same happens with KUbuntu 15.10 Wily Werwolf. Plasma is very unstable.
I tried to disable *all* Desktop Effects (System Settings; don't forget the
"not supportet by compositor" and "internal" desktop effects!). So the
plasmashell crashes occur only seldom. Mostly after manipulating widgets.
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I found the same behaviour. Plasma crash in different conditions (i.e.
different applications running) recovering with a black screen with just
an incomplete default panel and the cursor. I have made a new user with
a fresh configuration and after some time the same thing happens.
Removing the ~/.c
