Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance. ** Changed in:

cups-pdf is not installed by default in Hardy or Intrepid either. I think it would be helpful and useful if it was. Most people don't even know this feature exists. -- [Gutsy] PDF printer not available by default https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147736 You received this bug notification because

Jan: the rationale for Ubuntu no longer shipping with CUPS-PDF is that GTK2 and QT both recently acquired native support for printing to a PDF file. This is accomplished via the Print dialog's Save to file... option in all GNOME and KDE applications and doesn't require CUPS anymore. -- [Gutsy]

Martin-Éric Racine: I don't know if it is the default behavior but I believe that PDF printer should be available out of the box. This didn't happen in my case (even with final version of Gutsy). So this is not only the matter to set the PDF printer as default one but to make it available at all.
