If you update the adept package, this error is no longer there. I have a
fresh install of Kubuntu Gutsy, and once I updated, I don't receive
this error any more.

I can confirm this bug too.
Not a threat to system stability so far as I can see, but quite annoying.

The only addition I can make is that after booting and logging for the first
time into the newly installed distro, the application 'Kdesktop' started

I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 7.10 from downloaded CD-iso two days
ago. After some upgrades, adept offered a version upgrade both yesterday
and today.
