I just discovered this same issue but with a different, though common,
mime-type. I changed VoIP providers and while the old one sent
voicemail attachments using audio/x-wav (which worked fine inline),
the new one uses audio/wav and it does not play. I added it to the
plugin as described above
the issue has been fixed in intrepid now

audio inline plugin hardcodes mimetypes in org-gnome-audio-inline.eplug (
/usr/lib/evolution/2.22/plugins/org-gnome-audio-inline.eplug on Hardy). I
merely added a type for audio/microsoft-wav:
item mime_type=audio/microsoft-wav format=org_gnome_audio_inline_format
flags=inline_disposition/

Pedro-
I've still got this problem with Hardy alpha 6. I installed to a new
partition, created a new user with a different login, initialized a new
evolution setting with the evo setup wizard, and I still get a grayed-
out play button. I made no user config changes of any sort, I can't
imagine
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could
test with it so we can work
Thanks, that works fine here for me, to be confirmed by someone else
having the bug, thanks you.

No. I tried that before the OP, and I just repeated the process. I
created a new account (useradd -m test), logged in, started evolution,
declined to restore evo from backup, created a new IMAP account in evo,
found a mail with a wav attachment, and... same thing. The attachment
options looked
Does that works fine with another new user created on your machine?

Sure. The attached screenshot shows that I get only a Save As... option
in the pull down and that the play button is dimmed. I can see that evo
knows that this is audio from the play button musical notes icon, but
I don't know why it's dimmed. I've been running gnome for a long time
and it could
I've attached a redacted version of a sample voicemail email. I don't
know enough about mime encapsulation to know whether this format is
kosher; perhaps this attachment will aid diagnosis. Thank you.

Thanks for your report, that works fine in my desktop if you received a
wav file it show 3 buttons (play, pause, stop) where you can play the
wav files, can you take a screenshot of the window you see there?
thanks.
