Mattias Emmoth, to clarify, with which kernel did you test the new

Been really busy, but I did test the kernel 4.7-rc3 just now after a
fresh install and it didn't work. :/
dmesg | grep ath10k
[ 15.820119] ath10k_pci :02:00.0: pci irq msi oper_irq_mode 2 irq_mode 0
reset_mode 0
[ 16.590531] ath10k_pci :02:00.0: Direct firmware load for
Since that didn't work I installed this:
http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux-firmware/linux-firmware_1.158_all.deb
rebooted and the Wifi worked again.

Christopher, I tried to do as you asked but I got this error:
dpkg: dependency problems prevent removal of linux-firmware:
linux-image-generic depends on linux-firmware.
linux-signed-image-generic depends on linux-firmware.
dpkg: error processing package linux-firmware (--remove):

Mattias Emmoth, you would want to execute instead:
sudo dpkg -r linux-firmware && sudo apt-get -y install linux-firmware
This should remove the manually installed one, and install the one from
the Ubuntu repositories.

I'll gladly help with this, but I don't know how to revert to the old
ubuntu firmeware.
When I tried to do sudo dpkg -r linux-firmware_1.158_all.deb
I got this error:
dpkg: error: you must specify packages by their own names, not by quoting the
names of the files they come in
Type dpkg --help
Mattias Emmoth, what happens if you revert to the firmware provide by
the Ubuntu repositories, but keep using kernel 4.7-rc2?

WiFi is working with 4.7-rc2 so far.
But I'm not sure if it's due to that I installed
http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux-firmware/linux-
firmware_1.158_all.deb before to get the card to work.
I've added the dmesg | grep ath10k for you as well. The WiFi is working
with this new
Mattias Emmoth, how about with 4.7-rc2?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.7-rc1 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.
If the mainline kernel does not
I am sure this one works with that card
