the stable release of the Pi kernel and gadget are stuck until Bug
1654362 and Bug 1636927 (completely unrelated to this one though) are
fixed and gadget snaps on the pi are properly upgradeable.

I'm seeing this issue with http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-
core/16/stable/current/ubuntu-core-16-pi3.img.xz, but not with
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-core/16/stable/20170621/ubuntu-
core-16-pi3.img.xz. The network setup still wasn't perfect, after
entering in my wifi credentials and
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I'm also seeing this. After you configure the wlan0 settings and then
hit done to apply the configuration, the wlan0 interface vanishes and
never comes back w/o a reboot as well. The progress stops at 66% and
never resumes.
