Cannot connect to L2TP network

There firewall is ok. But I found that something got messed up when trying to
connect to the VPN from inside our office. The VPN should be used outside the
office of course, but I just wanted to test it. I don't know why, but it
started working after doing "apt purge --auto-remove
I'm guessing there is a firewall between the client and VPN server when
the client is in the outside world.

continue on my office VPN (this was a third party VPN) that is even
stranger. Here I can connect when I'm at my office, but not from the

I can confirm with the ike-scan.sh script mentioned in the README.md
file that the VPN server you are trying to connect to
I use 1.3.12 of xl2tpd and I cannot see any logs about "udp_xmit" in my log
file.
I have attached my log file where I replaced my vpn server IP.
The same VPN works fine from my other computer with Ubuntu 16.04. This computer
is upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04.

If you are, this is not a network-manager-l2tp bug, but a kernel 4.15
bug, I posted a xl2tpd bug report and workaround patch for Ubuntu
18.04's xl2tpd package almost a month before Bionic Beaver was
