Found the fix on the interwebs - https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/ubuntu-20-04-no-menu-bar-in- libreoffice/53831/2 sudo apt remove indicator-appmenu And then after rebooting there will be some errant entries in the top menu. Press Windows key + alt key and right mouse click and remove the errant

I just installed Ubuntu 20.04 in VM, from default desktop installed GNOME Flashback: apt-get install gnome-session-flashback Logged out, changed session to GNOME Flashback (Metacity) and logged in. Opening LibreOffice Writer I do have menu bar. Restarted VM and still have menu bar in
