I have similar problem with my laptop also after resume from hibernate I
see white screen for some short amount of time and then I get back in
X11 and everything seems to work properly but if I try to switch to
console with ctrl+alt+F1 etc. I only get white screen instead of the
console. For me
With an intel 945 chipset I also see sometimes the white screen for
about 2 seconds but it automatically change to lock screen after. White
screen is at 640x480, and I see it instead of console screen (with
login).

I also see the white screen, usually for about 5-10 seconds, but then
everything comes back in Xorg. I haven't had it stay white for a month
or so at least. I'm happy to call this bug resolved.

Great, yeah these intermittent bugs can be troublesome to reproduce.
Also make sure to install debug packages for xserver and the -intel
driver, so that when you collect the backtrace it'll have all the
necessary information.
It's not impossible that some other fix in the meantime will make this
Can you ssh into the box from another machine? If so, please see if you
can get a backtrace (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingXorg for
directions).
If you are not able to ssh into the box, it's possible you're seeing a
kernel issue rather than an X issue. Please verify this by exiting X
will do next time it happens. seems to not be happening 100% of the time
now.
