I experience freezes very rarely lately. It looks as if the freezes are due to two separate issues: Sometimes the freeze is associated with a critical increase in cpu temperature (I have a cpu temperature applet running which I always check when the system freezes). However, I don't understand why

I am also experiencing this. Total lock up, nothing moves.. It seems to happen most frequently in Firefox when making a mouse click, either right, left or scroll. It doesn't happen if I don't touch the system. The only way out is a system reset button. Then Ubuntu does a disk check, most often

I'm having the exact same problem. It tends to happen when I don't touch the computer for a while (aka watching a video fullscreen or I'm away and the screensaver has turned on). However, it doesn't always happen (two nights ago my computer didn't freeze while I slept but last night it did). I

After clean installing the release candidate the problem almost disappeared. It happened only once since the release candidate was released (but I keep the system up to date). This is not very satisfactory, however, since I have to constantly backup all my work. Any suggestions? -- Frequent
