We got bitten by this very bug! I spent a long time making sure it
wasn't anything on our network but what clear things up for me was this:
copying from Hardy to Hardy works
copying from Hardy to Solaris does not
copying from Solaris to Solaris works
So, obviously it's not the network devices
I experience this very annoying bug since several months (after updating
from the nice Dapper LTS to Hardy one): I initially suspected a bad
network connection at one end but it seems this is not the problem.
I also observe that SCP tranfer rates and ETA are false and not updated

I have the same issue. It transfers 2064 kB and then stalls. I can
duplicate this with this file over and over and it's always exactly 2064
kB before it stalls.

The results are the same, no luck this time :(
Please let me know if I can do anythong else.
Yours,
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.

Possible same issue on upgraded 8.04 and 6.10.
When I connect from the same IP subnet all goes OK, but when I pass
through a router or firewall the copy is stalled. The rest of network
traffic seems to be ok.
Tested on different machines all with different gigabit ethernet cards,

Not really having a clue what I'm looking for, I still tried wireshark
(on the Feisty machine while copying to the Hardy machine). Capturing
data seems to have the odd effect of making the problem less severe: the
large file copy continues while the rest of network isn't completely
disrupted,
