I think this is fixed now, then:
1) console-data was replaced by console-setup in Ubuntu 6.10, so many
console-data bugs are obsolete; I'm pretty sure this one is fixed.
2) Although the live CD doesn't explicitly prompt for a keyboard layout at
boot, you can choose one by pressing F3 at the boot
Testing Hardy.
Booting live CD now prompts for a language, but not for keyboard
variant. I would, for example, prefer English language with a Slovene
keyboard.
All other effects are exactly the same as on Gutsy, i.e. X-applications
work flawlessly, but console fonts and encoding is completely off
Testing Gutsy.
Booting live CD brings the computer up with a US keymap (which is
understandable as no keymap choice is given).
Starting the installation and selecting a different keymap immediately kicks in
both in X windows and in the console, with international console characters
missing (onl

Returning to Feisty, clean install, using Slovene keymap works in X, but
it does not work in the console (where US keymap is used).
