Im using 2.6.27-generic and did a update-manager -d (however aborted
directly because packages could not be retrieved) now the sound is gone.
I just started the computer and wanted to listen to some radio, now it

So, I performed the instructions at

i386 arch and I still have no sound. The necessary attachments are
below. I am going to try to kill the pulse audio process all together.

accounts on the computer, and had to go into each one to disable
pulseaudio in the Sessions dialog box, but after installing some updates

Install kernel 2.6.27-generic to continue using sound, it worked for me.
I don't know why for i386 there is kernel 2.6.25 and for others 2.6.27.

experiencing the same problem here. no sound in vlc. not even the
faintest sound could be heard.
