I am experiencing the same problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with the
Intel 915 card. I'm running Jaunty 9.04. Every time I open the lid I see
the flickering/bouncing for 5-10 seconds before it starts working.

J.Canfield, can you test on Jaunty to see if the problem still exists
there?

I've got an Inspiron 6000 that shows this behavior. I tried the test
.debs above, and they do not solve the issue. J Canfield's solution of
switching the driver to i810 doesn't work for me either.

We'd like to forward your bug upstream, however upstream requires
that you first test it against their newer driver code.
To save you the effort of building the driver from source, we've built

I have the same laptop (Inspiron 6000) with the i915 intel video card.
I'm running Intrepid Alpha 6, and I have a problem identical to the one
the OP described. In addition to a bug in Xorg, could this bug be
specifically in the intel video driver?
I've attached the log for Xorg.

As an Awn developer, i fail to see how Awn (or the GNOME main menu, for
that matter) is making your entire laptop screen flicker. If anything,
it seems like an X problem, if anything. If you could specifically
point to something Awn does that causes this behavior, e.g. when Awn is
started or
I understand that, and I found the fix. I will post the fix here
shortly. Thanks much!

In the future, please don't set the status to in progress if the
project has not a) confirmed the bug and b) is actually working on the
problem. (Note that this policy may vary among projects - I am
specifically speaking for the Awn project in this case.)
Yeah more than understand that but I was
