I'm using the latest from the Ubuntu repositories on Intrepid and
receiving the same error.
Here's my installed package list:

I tried to uninstall bacula then install mysql and bacula. Did not go
well. I tried to reinstall bacula and its associated files. I got a
crash report notification but I do not know where is report. I am using
ubuntu 8.04. The most recent version of bacula I have is 2.2.8-5ubuntu7.

Latest version of bacula in Ubuntu 8.04 is 2.2.8-5ubuntu7.1. We belive
this version fixes this bug. If this is not the case, please reopen the
bug.

I've made a fresh install of ubuntu 8.04 server 64bit.
I dont know if that mathers but it was an 8.04 instalation, not an 8.04.1.
First thing i've donne was apt-get update; apt-get upgrade
Postgres was installed by all the ways i know except compile from
source... =)

ok, some more updates:
when i try to install the bacula package, it selects a few packages from
mysql.
I tried do de-select them, and the error above apears.
I tried to not de-select them, and the error above apears.
The only way to install bacula (or at least, to synaptic say so) is
installing
