no Radeon, i tried different graph-cards, different chipsets. i believe the
problem is, that ubuntu cannot regognize the monitor, and instead of letting
the user choose the features of the monitor, it sets just everything to default
for LCD-Displays. but there are still people using

Monitor detection fails, but I can select exact type within the 'screens
and graphics' GUI (iiyama VM pro 510). This causes load of modline to be
added to xorg.conf
Trouble is they are not accessible - even after reboot.

After disabling the nvidia driver and re-selecting my monitor - the
refresh rate choices are different, but even if I select 85Hz, log out
and in again - it doesn't work.

I have a similar problem:
After upgrading to 7.10, my X11 display does not work anymore: The LCD monitor
complains that the signal is out of range and tells that it is
[EMAIL PROTECTED], (the monitor is somewhat older, and can't display that. It

Could this be related to the bug reported here?
If not, I might report it elsewhere.
I have a SiS 730 graphics system, which means its on-board graphics,

David: but what resolution did you get after install? The livecd can
still sometimes fail to get reasonable results from xresprobe. If it
still fails with feisty final, please attach your /var/log/casper.log

Your VertRefresh as is in xorg.conf limits the vertical frash rate.
Change it for the correct value of your monitor or remove it.
