Using 0.9.2 to restore the integrated video output would simpliy be
PLAIN STUPID. It was disabled in 0.9.4 onward as the code involves
crash-prone race conditions. If you want the integrated video, keep the
latest VLC version and patch it.

patch ASAP and from all affected branches. As the original author, I
cannot stress enough that this patch is WRONG.
The embedded video output remains broken to this day, and re-enabling
will simply expose users to its bugs.
Well, I guess it should be okay, just so long as things kinda halfway
work the way that people would expect them to work.
I personally have been waiting for Intrepid's official release to
install it, so I will wait and see how everything works then.

As said, please file seperate bugs for
intrepid will ship with the version we currently have. That is 0.9.4 +
some selected upstream patches.

I just used vlc for the first time in intrepid last night and was very
pleased with the new release. The video in totem kept freezing and then
being behind the audio for .mkv files, vlc did not have this problem. A
good solution to this might be to have any easy method for people to
downgrade in
the two issues you referenced in the forum seem to be the same issue
that has been fixed with the lastest upload:
