Intel 3945 wireless(Thinkpad X60) won't work in Ubuntu 8.10

Check the release notes for a temporary workaround:
On laptops with Intel 3945 or Intel 4965 wireless chipsets and a
killswitch for the wireless antenna, starting the system with the
killswitch enabled (i.e., with wireless disabled) will prevent re-
enabling the wireless by toggling
Thats interesting. I have a thinkpad x61 with intel 4965 wireless. What
I have found is if i start the system with my killswitch enabled (i.e.,
wireless disabled) i can get the wireless to start by enabling wireless
with the killswitch, then right clicking on the NetworkManager icon and
unchecking
