I have the same problem. I'm running kubuntu jaunty on a lenovo x60 tablet. My
mouse looks like this:

Often (but not always) when I plug in my mouse, I can see in my syslog that the
mouse has been connected, but not detected
For what it's worth, I think this bug deserves a higher importance
rating than low. USB mice are a pretty important piece of hardware,
and it seems like in many cases they are just broken (unless you happen
to know that it will work the 7th time you plug it in).

Interestingly enough the same thing just happened on this laptop with a
Logitech A-0356A usb headset: it was not visible at all until I ran
lsusb.
