I just tried with an up-to-date Jaunty installation.
The memory leak bug seems to be gone. gvfsd-http doesn't grow to sizes of
several hundred MBs anymore.
Another oddity remains, though:
Rhythmbox downloads all podcasts successfully (the files are complete and I
also get to see a shiny new
I agree. The bug seems to be caused by gvfsd-http keeping all the
downloaded podcasts in RAM.

I think this bug is related with LP: #225615, supposedly fixed in Jaunty
but not (yet?) in Intrepid and Hardy.

First, I swapped out the rhythmbox-dbg package for the rhythmbox-dbgsym
package . . . That may have changed the environment significantly. For
one thing, the program now produces apport reports and automatically
uploads them. So,

I'm reopening this bug because the process outline by Chris Coulson did
not result in a crash report in '/var/crash' when the Rhythmbox
application crashed. I appreciate that this makes the problem much
harder to investigate, but I really can't proceed along the lines you
recommend if it
