@unimatrix9: Sorry for my late reply. You can try to use network-
manager-gnome, this is designed to make wireless networking easy. Its
somewhat picky when it comes to the drivers it supports, but if you are
lucky and your driver is supported it works very well.

Could you please try again with the released version of dapper? Or with
a current edgy version? This may well be a problem in the development
release that was fixed since.
