I don't think it is fixed in 0.5.3.2-0ubuntu1. Now it crashes on
strlen() in the same scenario.

Tried a couple things:
1.- Calling xrandr --auto which is what I do when connecting external
monitor. No apparent effect.
2.- Pluging USB keyboard with Spanish layout while I was using laptop's
UK layout: Crash!
