I used Lucid for a while now and for me (Thinkpad T400) the bug seems to
be fixed now: mute button works as it should.

Muting the device with the laptop's mute button or even muting through
the mute button of kmix, alsamixer, etc. does NOT work, but the volume
sliders work perfectly.

I have same problem with Asus eee 701. Fresh jaunty installation. The
volume sliders in volume control work perfectly. Master mute button do
nothing. Line-Out mute button works correctly. Selected device: HDA

I can confirm that on a freshly updated t400 2767-WC8 (from intrepid)
Clicking mute on the icon or in the dialog with the slider that shows up when
you click the icon has no effect, as well as my hardware-mute button (which
doesn't even effect the icon, which the other ways do). Going into

Thanks for your report. I cannot reproduce your issue, mute works for
me. Make sure you are running up-to-date jaunty and have restarted your
session. You should only have one volume icon.
