This same bug is still happening to me, upon update to the final release
of 9.04 from 8.10. My version of xserver-xorg-video-intel is
2:2.6.3-0ubuntu version 9.

After some work, I have been able to get X running pretty well. But
every time I boot, it still tries to run in low graphics mode. So it
takes ages to boot and I have to login through the command line. It
always complains about tiling to the front buffer. I was getting them
even before I switched
Yes, you are right. The bug was fixed in xserver-xorg-video-intel to
2:2.6.3-0ubuntu version 5.
Today I updated to the newer version of the package and there are no
reasons for complaining.
