This is definitely a duplicate of 344916 and 344590. I'm marking it as a
duplicate of the latter, as we're using that one to track the fix.

Same error message as Pasquale (when run in terminal), system upgraded
from 8.10 via update-manager. Checkbox and checkbox-gtk v. 0.7.1. Fails
silently if run from System menu.
$ cat /etc/checkbox.d/checkbox.ini
[DEFAULT]
version = 0.1-0ubuntu10
plugins = checkbox/plugins
registries = checkbox/re
@Pasquale I suspect your problem is a duplicate of bug 344916 - can you
confirm the version of checkbox you have installed (dpkg -l | grep
checkbox) and attach your /etc/checkbox.d/checkbox.ini please?
@Hassan El Jacfi Yours appears to be a separate problem. Could you also
attach your /etc/checkbo
It because you are not root. Needs gksu in desktop file.
/usr/bin/checkbox-gtk --> gksu /usr/bin/checkbox-gtk in
/usr/share/applications/checkbox-gtk.desktop
