FWIW, Zoom in/out/normal would have been added only to the right-click
menu for the Desktop, and not the menu for files on the Desktop. I just
meant to illustrate there might be other ways to do this.
I see you want more thought on this. I never meant to blindly remove
functionality without
If you want to remove items from the context menu, then perhaps you
could suggest an alternative place in the UI for such functionality?

We're not removing features because you don't like them.
They're incredibly helpful for laptop users, where small icons on the
desktop can be hard to hit.

I think we need to look at what this feature is designed for. I'm not
sure myself. How is it useful?
If people want bigger icons than there is already a preference in
Nautilus; if that is not discoverable enough it might help to add zoom
in/out/normal options to the context-menu for the Desktop.
@A. Walton thanks, that is one use-case to consider. Would enlarging all
icons on the Desktop help you?
