They certainly look complete, and I've used them to build kernels in the
past.
@Andy - since /proc/config.gz works on other platforms, which don't ship
configs in /boot, might it be worth enabling /proc/config.gz anyway for
the sake of portability?
If not, how about a compromise - add it as a
@mdz -- well the thought is that it is redundant as we do have the files
in /boot anyhow, the incomplete stuff seems to be sorted by a quick scan
of my disk. The reporter seems happy in that case to work with those
files. There is a cost of having them built in, as they are loaded into
memory
@Martin-Eric -- the configs in /boot should be complete on all releases.
The config is generated from the post-processed config as actually used
to build the kernel. There is therefore not benefit from the
/proc/config.gz being enabled. If you are finding that your config is
incomplete could you
@Andy -- For many Ubuntu releases, the plain text configs in /boot were
truncated snippets produced by some config spliting tool, which
effectively made them useless. If you can confirm that this has been
fixed, then we can indeed close this bug.
