I did indeed use 8.10 and I don't recall any such issues being present
then. For that matter I don't think I experienced this in 9.04 or any
other release... I'll have to hunt down the 9.04 live-cd and perform
some tests - It may be that I just never tried with an SD card in the
slot.
Just to make
Colin,
No, I have not used 8.10 on the M750, sorry.

Tim

After some more investigation, I've found a similar suspend/resume issue
(bug 309535) with another TOSHIBA PORTEGE M750 which seems to work in
8.10, so it may be a regression in the kernel causing the problem.
Did you ever use suspend/resume on Ubuntu 8.10, and if so, did it work?

Thanks for the suggestion Colin. Sorry it has taken me so long to get
back to this.
Unfortunately adding either "sdhci_pci" or "sdhci-pci" to the list does
not fix the issue.
I will investigate if there are any other modules involved that I can
blacklist when I get a chance.

I suggest the following workaround:
sudo gedit /etc/default/acpi-support
and change the MODULES="" line to MODULES="sdhci_pci"
let us know if this helps.

Just tested and suspend works fine after "rmmod sdhci_pci" so that
driver is likely the cause.

[TOSHIBA PORTEGE M750] suspend failure with card in card reader

I have followed the wiki page advice for debugging kernel suspend
(linked above) and obtained a copy of dmesg but I don't think it shows
anything interesting. It is attached anyway.
Here is a more detailed lspci entry for the card reader:
03:01.2 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MM
I have this same exact issue on my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop. When there
is an SD card in the card reader slot then suspend fails and the kernel
locks up (not even Alt + PrntScrn + b works). Suspend works flawlessly
when there is no card present.
I'm not sure what debug info I can obtain so please
