I disagree with you Chris. Do as following to see that it's exist:
* run Software Sources
* enable all on the Ubuntu software tab
* enable all on the Updates tab
* set Show new distribution release to normal release
* close the Software Sources with the reloading of package list
* run Synaptic

I have to agree with Chris, there is no OpenOffice.org2 packages in
Ubuntu 9.10 even if you follow the steps shown. May I ask why you want
to install OpenOffice.org 2?

Because on LiveCD of Ubuntu 9.10 it's the latest version of OpenOffice
(OO). It seems that the repositories haven't got updated and the newer
version of OO entries have become damaged
