Ok, I managed (sorry for the delay, I run very short of time) to boot a 7.04 live CD. Out of the box the card does not function, because the necessary .cis file (3CXEM556.cis) is not in /lib/firmware. I copied this file from the old pcmcia package (they where in /etc/pcmcia/cis/ directory) and
