We don't sync new versions into stable releases directly, and nor do we remove packages from stable releases; we backport targeted fixes instead. Please see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates. Could somebody prepare a suitable backport of whatever fixes are needed, with a rationale? --
