since jockey version 0.5.8-0ubuntu7 both available NVidia drivers (current and 173) are activated, but not in use. I have never installed any NVidia driver. (it shows the same when running the live cd). The only way to activate the driver is to remove both drivers (in jockey- gtk) and activate the

confirm the issue (HP 8730w). Lucid beta2. This problem did not happen in alpha1, x11 was broken on alpha2, it did not happen on beta1 now shows-up on beta2... Remove both drivers, then activate current, then reboot... to have it fixed. Seems very hard to get rid of the NOUVEAU stuff. -- Nvidia

Some tweaks and comments: first i've uninstalled some packages: plymouth-x11, most of themes, nouveau and nvidia-current, then reboot. Of course booting fail to command line, no surprise indeed. Then - sudo dpkg-reconfigure udev - sudo jockey-text -l : found nvidia_173 nvidia_current first
