Narwhal has the same problem. But just now I stumbled upon something
that hopefully can help you find and remove this bug easily.
Judging by discussions on websites it seems many people have had this
problem, so although my discovery solves the problem for me, if you can
remove the bug entirely I
I had exactly the same behaviours that were described in the bug report
and I solved them by removing the assistive technologies software using
the Ubuntu Software Centre, which I learned was the problem following
the link in Peter's post. To remove the software, I had to log in as
root, since
I have the same problem - but only on my work machine (annoying).
I've also found this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1440048
which seems to hint that the problem might be related to Assistive
technologies. Their workaround works for me. Even though I've disabled
assistive
