Well , AMD claims that the Temperature is indeed unreliable and SW should not
use it, that's why k10temp disables the monitoring.

the easy fix is to do:
Icreate /etc/modprobe.d/k10temp.conf
and just add
# force k10temp

I have just upgraded to 12.04 and I still have the same issue so I tried
apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number
as described above. If I had known that it was going to put so much
sensitive system information in the public domain I would never have

We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If
so, can you try
Supplying force=1 to the module does suppress the disabling - as in,
it loads, and you get a temp out of it.
It might be unreliable, but it seems OK to me.
I suspect it's a little overzealous.

I get this error too on an HP Pavilion m9400f AMD Phenom X4 9750. I'm
not sure what my motherboard is. Since upgrading to 10.10 I spend a lot
of time in this bug department. I also get service startup messages
splattered on screen in low graphics mode on startup and shutdown, audio
noise every 60
Same issue here, except on a relatively new Asus motherboard. AMD phenom II x4
quad core CPU.
Get the error message and a low graphics boot. After login screen, back to
normal and can log into x.
