I have come back again with the problem of the same kind (I don't hear
any audio sound in my earphones as well as in my laptop speakers). I
tried using this method provided by you previously but it doesn't seem
to work. This time I installed a fresh copy of ubuntu 10.10 and I came
up with the

There was a sudo missing in some of the commands in the instructions
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules - I
have updated that now, so if you tried installing via the command line:
please retry, and also make sure any other package manager is open (e g

Bishwa, please don't file more than one bug for the same issue. Can you
please try the latest snapshot according to these instructions:

and see if it helps? I know there has been some sony vaio related fixes
lately.
