Hmm, I'll see if I can find some time to try that as I'm pretty busy
with a lot of things at the moment...
Unfortunately right now that particular machine has a broken power
supply, so as soon as I get around to fixing that and it boots again

occurs on Gutsy and/or Hardy? If so, could you also see if you can

I just tried to boot the system with the fiesty herd 3 CD, and I again
encountered this bug. However, I then tried the "Safe Graphics Mode"
option in the boot menu, and ubuntu booted fine!
Since the main difference between safe graphics mode and normal appears
to be that the safe graphics mode use

I've looked into the problem a bit more, and I have more information
now. The crash seems to occur when /bin/setupcon calls:
eval consolechars -v --tty=$console -f "$FONT" $verbose
on line 201. If I comment that line out, then setupcon crashes on line
231, which contains:
eval consolechars -v --
My problem turned out to be with the nvidia drivers in Edgy, when I
upgraded to the beta nvidia drivers it works now.
As for the reported of this bug, I think the file located at
/var/log/Xorg.0.log probably contains the most relevant info perhaps.
Also, there are a number of bugs out there alread
I have this same problem. Using a geforce 3 ti200. I don't have a
normal monitor hooked up because it's my media pc. Did you ever find a
way to fix this?
