If you were to stop NetworkManager, move that file out of the directory
(to your home, for example), then start NM again, does it still log the
errors ?
If possible, please attach that file to this bug report so I can see
whether there is something wrong with it ;) but afaict, I don't

You can safely remove that extra file, it's configuration but it's not
in the right directory.
Have you made any changes to the files in /usr/share/polkit-1/actions?
Even if you didn't, could you paste the output of dpkg -S
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/.
The patch is simple and safe
I suspect there may also be something slightly wrong with your polkit
policy or name files. Could you make sure that whatever client you are
using properly ships a conf file in /etc/dbus-1/system.d to define the
name? Also, do you use nmcli from cron?

Mathieu, thanks for the reply. I haven't configured nmcli from cron,
and unfortunately I don't seem to understand what you're asking me to do
with respect to polkit policy. The policy files are from these packages
(note there is one error from dpkg -S, i. e. nm-system-settings.conf is
on disk but
